Apply to the WTE Board

Board Member Requirements:

Serving on the WTE Board is a meaningful commitment to leadership, community, and impact. The guidelines below ensure we remain engaged, aligned, and accountable to the mission we serve.

Requirements:

Board service requires a meaningful time commitment, including preparation, meetings, and event participation.

  • Must be an active WTE member
  • Must be active in WTE Slack, including:
    • Coordinating within your planning channels, responsive to threads and DMs, and weekly engagement with general community
  • Attendance at a minimum of 8 out of 10 WTE Board meetings annually
  • Attendance at a minimum of 8 out of 10 WTE events in your local area (or if out of market, WTE online events)
  • Commitment to a $250 annual board contribution, which includes:
    • Seat at our December Board Retreat
    • WTE shirt
    • WTE Board Member Spotlight, and
    • Key perks, including sponsorship discounts, merchandise discounts, first right of refusal for free conference passes at sister/partner events, as available
  • Commit to serve a 1 year term
  • Attend any additional special meetings called for urgent matters or strategic planning.

Selection Process:

Board seats are filled by appointment. The process includes:

  1. Submission of the completed application
  2. Interview with WTE CEO
  3. Final appointment by the CEO and Chair of the Board, based on application and interview outcomes
